The Medway Dog Wash

Wash your dog here instead of in your bathtub

The Dog Wash opened in 2009 and it is still the reason a lot of Medway knows us. Do it yourself in one of our tubs, or hand your dog over and let us do it. Neither one needs an appointment. Open seven days a week, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Two ways to get a clean dog

Do it yourself, or hand it over

Both are walk in. If you want a full haircut rather than a wash, that is grooming, and it is booked separately.

You Wash

Self-serve. No appointment necessary.

Waist-high tubs with ramps, so nobody is lifting a wet retriever. Water is pre-set to a comfortable warm temperature. We provide shampoos, conditioner, aprons, dryers and towels. You do the washing, we do the cleaning up. Tubs are disinfected between every customer.

You are never left to figure it out alone. There is always someone on hand to help, whether that is getting a nervous dog into the tub or just showing you where everything is.

We Wash

Drop off. First come, first served.

Wash, dry, coat conditioning, ear cleaning, eye wipes and a brush out. Typically two to three hours. We cannot take drop-offs within two hours of closing, and we need proof of a rabies certificate.

This is a bath rather than a haircut. If your dog needs clipping or scissoring, book professional grooming instead.

What the self-serve side gives you

  • Waist-high tubs with ramps your dog walks up
  • Warm water already set, no fiddling with taps
  • Shampoos and conditioner provided
  • Aprons, so you go home dry
  • Dryers and towels provided
  • Tubs disinfected between every customer
  • We clean up afterwards
  • Someone is always around to help if you want a hand

No appointment. Walk in any day between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

Good to know

Before you come in

Rabies proof

We need a rabies certificate for any drop-off wash. The self-serve tubs are the one thing that does not require it.

Two hours before close

We cannot take a We Wash drop-off within two hours of closing, so 3:00pm is the last one we can start. There is not enough day left to do it properly.

Dog Wash questions

Do I need an appointment for the self-serve wash?

No. Walk in any day between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Tubs, warm water, shampoo, conditioner, aprons, dryers and towels are all provided, and we clean up afterwards.

Do I have to wash my dog on my own?

Not at all. There is always somebody here to help. Plenty of people manage fine by themselves, but if your dog is nervous, or big, or it is your first time, just ask and we will give you a hand.

How long does a drop-off wash take?

Typically two to three hours, first come first served. We cannot take drop-offs within two hours of closing, and we need proof of a rabies certificate.

What is the difference between a We Wash and grooming?

A We Wash is a bath: wash, dry, conditioning, ears, eyes and a brush out, no appointment needed. Grooming adds nail clipping and a haircut, is done one dog at a time, and is booked in advance. See grooming for that.

Just walk in

Neither the self-serve tubs nor a drop-off wash needs an appointment. Come any day between 9:00am and 5:00pm, and start a We Wash drop-off by 3:00pm.
